I don’t think Delena fans understand what a real and true soulmate is. A real and true soulmate forces you to grow up and to evolve as a person. They challenge you to be at your best, they challenge you to reach your upmost potential, they challenge you to face the good, the bad and the ugly parts of yourself. A true soulmate relationship is not toxic, is not abusive, is not unhealthy. It is not codependent. If one or two people in the relationship are going “I can’t live without him”, “my life is nothing without him” or “I can’t be without her”, that is a huge red flag and that is NOT your soulmate. True soulmates are not codependent on each other or feel that they need to be with each other or together to have a sense of self worth. True soulmate relationships is not about trying to change a person directly to fit who you want them to be. Instead, they tell what you’re doing wrong, accept your mistakes and flaws and try to challenge you to see that you can do better. A soulmate challenges you, they understand you and they listen to you. People who are true soulmates communicate with each other and they can talk for hours and hours with each other about absolutely anything. True soulmates is not about sex or lust or desire. It is not a desire to have sex with them at every turn. True soulmates is not about trying to control or dominate your partner in anyway, shape or form. It is about mutual trust, support and respect.
These are all things that Delena does not have. Delena fans think that Damon and Elena are soulmates but it couldn’t be farther from the truth and the reality. Bamon fits all of the above criteria for what a true soulmate relationship looks like. Because of Bonnie, Damon is finally spiritually evolving and changing as a person. He’s become enlightened. A true soulmate enlightens you.
